Work for Year 7 - week beginning November 9th
1. Finish drawing and labelling your pictures of The Reaping from The Hunger Games - this may not apply to all students but please double check that you have completed it.
2. The Tempest - What do you think a deserted island would look like? We talked about this last week, but this week you need to write your ideas up in full.
Write a detailed, paragraphed description of what you think you would find on a mysterious island in the middle of nowhere: imagine you have crawled away from a shipwreck and found yourself on the island - describe what you see, hear, smell, touch and taste as you move around.
Try to use all of the language devices we have worked on in lessons - simile, metaphor, alliteration and any others you can find notes on in your books.
3. Imagine you can choose to take 5 luxury items to the island to make your stay there more enjoyable. What would your five luxury items be? Write a detailed piece with full explanations of your reasons for making each choice.
4. If you could choose one film, one book, one piece of music, one game and one bonus piece of clothing to your island, what would they be? Write detailed guides to each one of these, and explain why you like them so much. Ask people around you (or in your family) what they would choose as their favourites.
5. Using two pages of your exercise book, draw and colour a detailed map of the island. You need to show everything that's on there - sand, plants, trees, forests etc. Plus, what else could be on the island that would make yours especially interesting? Add these things too. Make sure your map is labelled.
